Technitium DNS Server is an open source authoritative as well as recursive DNS server that can be used for self hosting a DNS server for privacy & security. It works out-of-the-box with no or minimal configuration and provides a user friendly web console accessible using any modern web browser.
Nobody really bothers about domain name resolution since it works automatically behind the scenes and is complex to understand. Most computer software use the operating system's DNS resolver that usually query the configured ISP's DNS server using UDP protocol. This way works well for most people but, your ISP can see and control what website you can visit even when the website employ HTTPS security. Not only that, some ISPs can redirect, block or inject content into websites you visit even when you use a different DNS provider like Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS. Having Technitium DNS Server configured to use DNS-over-TLS, DNS-over-HTTPS, or DNS-over-QUIC encrypted DNS protocols with forwarders, these privacy & security issues can be mitigated very effectively.
Be it a home network or an organization's network, having a locally running DNS server gives you more insights into your network and helps to understand it better using the DNS logs and stats. It improves overall performance since most queries are served from the DNS cache making web sites load faster by not having to wait for frequent DNS resolutions. It also gives you an additional control over your network allowing you to block domain names network wide and also allows you to route your DNS traffic securely using encrypted DNS protocols.
An open-source implementation of the Messaging Layer Security protocol
OpenMLS is a software library that can serve as a building block in applications that require end-to-end encryption of messages.
It has a safe and easy-to-use interface that hides the complexity of the underlying cryptographic operations.
Bandit is a tool designed to find common security issues in Python code. To do this, Bandit processes each file, builds an AST from it, and runs appropriate plugins against the AST nodes. Once Bandit has finished scanning all the files, it generates a report.
This documentation is generated by the Sphinx toolkit and lives in the source tree.
I'm writing a third edition of Security Engineering, which will be published in November 2020.
With both the first edition in 2001 and the second edition in 2008, I put six chapters online for free at once, then added the others four years after publication. For the third edition, I negotiated an agreement with the publishers to put the chapters online for review as I wrote them. So the book came out by instalments, like Dickens' novels, from April 2019 to Septamber 2020. On the first of November 2020, all except seven sample chapters will disappear for a period of 42 months. I'm afraid the publishers insist on that. But therearefter the whole book will be free online forever.
You may pre-order the paper book here for delivery at the end of November in the USA and here for delivery in January 2021 in the UK.
ssh-agent is a program to hold in memory the private keys used by SSH for public-key authentication. When the agent is running, ssh forwards to it the signature requests from the server. The agent performs the private key operations and returns the results to ssh. It is useful if you keep your private keys encrypted on disk and you don’t want to type the password at each connection. Keeping the agent secure is critical: someone able to communicate with the agent can authenticate on your behalf on remote servers.
This describes a method for maintaining a separate ssh-agent to hold your ssh key for connecting to Toolforge/CloudVPS.
The problem
You use an ssh-agent to connect to your personal or company systems. You want to connect to Toolforge/CloudVPS using an agent and you created a separate ssh key to connect to Toolforge/CloudVPS, but you don't want to forward your personal key to Toolforge/CloudVPS systems. If you just add both keys to your existing agent, they both get forwarded to Toolforge/CloudVPS. It's a pain to constantly remove your personal key from your agent each time you want to connect to Toolforge/CloudVPS. Additionally, you might be connected to both your personal system and Toolforge/CloudVPS simultaneously, so just removing the key is insufficent; you must run a separate ssh-agent. You don't want to run one agent per connection because then you have to type your passphrase on every connection (and you have a nice long secure passphrase on your key).
This page describes a method for getting your shell to maintain two agents, your primary agent and your Toolforge/CloudVPS agent. When you connect to Toolforge/CloudVPS you connect to the existing Toolforge/CloudVPS agent (or create one if it doesn't exist) and the rest of the time you use your default agent.
Information security encompasses a variety of different working groups. These security best practices support the functions of business operations, infrastructure, and product development, to name a few. Everybody is responsible for maintaining a level of security to support compliance (available internal-only), while raising the bar of our security posture.
Dynamic instrumentation toolkit for developers, reverse-engineers, and security researchers.
Scriptable
Inject your own scripts into black box processes. Hook any function, spy on crypto APIs or trace private application code, no source code needed. Edit, hit save, and instantly see the results. All without compilation steps or program restarts.
Choosing the wrong authentication protocol could undermine security and limit future expansion. These are the recommended protocols for common use cases.
