etcd is an open source, distributed, consistent key-value store for shared configuration, service discovery, and scheduler coordination. By using etcd, applications can ensure that even in the face of individual servers failing, the application will continue to work. etcd is a core component of CoreOS software that facilitates safe automatic updates, coordinating work being scheduled to hosts, and setting up overlay networking for containers.
In the fall of 2013, thinking about text utilities got me thinking in turn about how my writing habits depend on the Linux command line. This seems like a good hook for explaining some tools I use every day, so now I’m writing a short, haphazard book.
This isn’t a book about system administration, writing complex software, or becoming a wizard. I am not a wizard, and I don’t subscribe to the idea that wizardry is required to use these tools. In fact, I barely know what I’m doing most of the time. I still get some stuff done.
This is a work in progress. It probably gets some stuff wrong.
It's about turning a dedicated "Thin Client" box into a general purpose computer that can then be tailored to meet your own needs. To this end we need to be able to get them to run a version of Linux that we have complete control over. Depending on the make and model of the hardware this can be a trivial or not so trivial task.

The LCMC is a GUI application that configures, manages and visualizes high-availability clusters. Specifically it manages clusters that use one or more of these components: Pacemaker, Corosync, Heartbeat, DRBD, KVM, XEN and LVM.
From the creators of BackTrack comes Kali Linux, the most advanced and versatile penetration testing distribution ever created. We have a whole set of amazing features lined up in our security distribution, geared at streamlining the penetration testing experience.
- das Internet anonym zu nutzen und Zensur zu umgehen;
alle Verbindungen zum Internet werden zwingend durch das Tor Netzwerk geleitet; - auf dem verwendeten Computer keine Spuren zu hinterlassen, sofern Sie es nicht ausdrücklich wünschen;
- kryptographische Werkzeuge auf dem aktuellen Stand der Technik zu benutzen um Ihre Dateien, E-Mails und Instant-Messaging-Nachrichten zu verschlüsseln.
Slurm is an open-source workload manager designed for Linux clusters of all sizes. It provides three key functions. First it allocates exclusive and/or non-exclusive access to resources (computer nodes) to users for some duration of time so they can perform work. Second, it provides a framework for starting, executing, and monitoring work (typically a parallel job) on a set of allocated nodes. Finally, it arbitrates contention for resources by managing a queue of pending work.
TANGO is an object oriented distributed control system using CORBA (synchronous and asynchronous communication) and zeromq (event based communication) and is being actively developed as a collaborative effort between the following research institutes: Alba,Anka, Desy, Elettra, ESRF, FRM II, MAX-IV, Solaris, Soleil, ELI Beams, ELI Alps

If you’re a Unix person instead of e.g. a Microsoft® Windows® person, you’ve probably been annoyed by Iceweasel (or Mozilla™ Firefox®) creating a ~/Desktop directory, among others (things like ~/Downloads).
Here’s a quick fix I found somewhere in the ’net:
qutebrowser is a keyboard-focused browser with with a minimal GUI. It’s based on Python, PyQt5 and QtWebKit and free software, licensed under the GPL. It was inspired by other browsers/addons like dwb and Vimperator/Pentadactyl.

This week I’m testing a lot with CephFS and one of the things I never tried was re-exporting CephFS using NFS-Ganesha and libcephfs.
NFS-Ganesha is a NFS server which runs in userspace. It has multiple backends (FSALs) it can use and libcephfs is one of them.
Nfs-ganesha is a user-mode file server for NFS (v3, 4.0,4.1 pNFS) and for 9P from the Plan9 operating system. It can support all these protocols concurrently.
This is an Open Source project with an active community of both company sponsored and independent developers. This Wiki is the primary location for all current information about the project and its software releases.
Solarized is a sixteen color palette (eight monotones, eight accent colors) designed for use with terminal and gui applications. It has several unique properties. I designed this colorscheme with both precise CIELAB lightness relationships and a refined set of hues based on fixed color wheel relationships. It has been tested extensively in real world use on color calibrated displays (as well as uncalibrated/intentionally miscalibrated displays) and in a variety of lighting conditions.
