This is a guide to set up a modern XMPP server focused on security and mobile messaging. The whole guide assumes Debian stable running on the server, the fact that you will end up hosting a few of your friends and that you have some basic skills working on a linux command line. Please note that if you’ve followed this guide in the past you might need to have a look at the update considerations
We usually take care of things we value, whether it is an expensive smartphone or the company’s servers. Data is one of the most important assets of the organisation, and although we do not see it, it has to be carefully protected. We implement data at rest encryption to encrypt database files or whole volumes which contain our data. We implement data in transit encryption using SSL to make sure no one can sniff and collect data sent across networks. Backups are no different. No matter if this is a full backup or incremental, it will store at least a part of your data. As such, backups have to be encrypted too. In this blog post, we will look into some options you may have when it comes to encrypting backups. First though, let’s look at how you can encrypt your backups and what could be use cases for those methods.
General note concerning the use of guest agent interfaces:
"unsupported" is a higher-level error than the errors that individual commands might document. The caller should always be prepared to receive QERR_UNSUPPORTED, even if the given command doesn’t specify it, or doesn’t document any failure mode at all.

DBdeployer is a tool that deploys MySQL database servers easily. This is a port of MySQL-Sandbox, originally written in Perl, and re-designed from the ground up in Go. See the features comparison for more detail.
After starting your first Python project, you might realize that it is actually not that obvious to be consistent with the way you write Python code. If you collaborate with other developers, your code style might differ, and the code can become somehow unreadable.

The DroneBot Workshop is the place to be if you are interested in working with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Electronics, Robotics, Internet of Things, Quadcopters and other high tech fun things. You'll learn how components work and how you can use them in your experiments, as well as fascinating projects you can build yourself.
The cloud native landscape can be complicated and confusing. Its myriad of open source projects are supported by the constant contributions of a vibrant and expansive community. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) has a landscape map that shows the full extent of cloud native solutions, many of which are under their umbrella.
As a CNCF ambassador, I am actively engaged in promoting community efforts and cloud native education throughout Canada. At CloudOps I lead workshops on Docker and Kubernetes that provide an introduction to cloud native technologies and help DevOps teams operate their applications.
I also organize Kubernetes and Cloud Native meetups that bring in speakers from around the world and represent a variety of projects. They are run quarterly in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Quebec City. Reach out to me @archyufaor email CloudOps to learn more about becoming cloud native.
In the meantime, I have written a beginners guide to the cloud native landscape. I hope that it will help you understand the landscape and give you a better sense of how to navigate it.
NATS Server is a simple, high performance open source messaging system for cloud native applications, IoT messaging, and microservices architectures.
Broad, standards-compliant support for both DHCPv4 and DHCPv6
-
Free-open source, shared under MPL 2.0 licensing
-
Direct address assignment (DHCPv4 and DHCPv6) or DHCPv6 prefix delegation
-
Dynamic IP addressing and static host reservations
-
Dynamic DNS for updating DNS records as leases are renewed or expired
-
Tracking of MAC addresses, even in DHCPv6
-
Extend and customize Kea through Hooks
-
Add and change subnets and pools without restarting Kea
-
Store leases and host reservations in a MySQL, PostgreSQL or Cassandra database rather than a text file
-
Replace the entire Kea configuration, or separately manage leases, subnets and host reservations through a REST API
-
Comprehensive Developer and Administrator documentation.

ISC offers commercial 7 x 24 support for Kea, as well as consulting and contract development to assist in implementing Kea, including migration from ISC DHCP.
Kea runs on Linux, BSD, and MacOS, like ISC DHCP. The Kea distribution does not yet include a DHCP client or relay, but because both are standards-based, the ISC DHCP client works fine with the Kea DHCP server. Kea is under active development.
As you know, Python leverages polymorphism at its maximum by dealing only with generic references to objects. This makes OOP not an addition to the language but part of its structure from the ground up. Moreover, Python pushes the EAFP appoach, which tries to avoid direct inspection of objects as much as possible.
Knot DNS is a high-performance authoritative-only DNS server which supports all key features of the modern domain name system.
