A curated list of awesome Python frameworks, libraries, software and resources
bbfreeze creates stand-alone executables from python scripts. It’s similar in purpose to the well known py2exe for windows, py2app for OS X, PyInstaller and cx_Freeze (in fact ancient versions were based on cx_Freeze. And it uses the modulegraph package, which is also used by py2app).
tl;dr: Notes and workflow for efficiently writing and publishing a python package
SSLyze is a Python tool that can analyze the SSL configuration of a server by connecting to it. It is designed to be fast and comprehensive, and should help organizations and testers identify misconfigurations affecting their SSL servers.
Key features include:
- Multi-processed and multi-threaded scanning (it's fast)
- SSL 2.0/3.0 and TLS 1.0/1.1/1.2 compatibility
- Performance testing: session resumption and TLS tickets support
- Security testing: weak cipher suites, insecure renegotiation, CRIME, Heartbleed and more
- Server certificate validation and revocation checking through OCSP stapling
- Support for StartTLS handshakes on SMTP, XMPP, LDAP, POP, IMAP, RDP and FTP
- Support for client certificates when scanning servers that perform mutual authentication
- XML output to further process the scan results
- And much more !
After starting your first Python project, you might realize that it is actually not that obvious to be consistent with the way you write Python code. If you collaborate with other developers, your code style might differ, and the code can become somehow unreadable.
As you know, Python leverages polymorphism at its maximum by dealing only with generic references to objects. This makes OOP not an addition to the language but part of its structure from the ground up. Moreover, Python pushes the EAFP appoach, which tries to avoid direct inspection of objects as much as possible.
jsonschema is an implementation of JSON Schema for Python (supporting 2.7+ including Python 3).
Features
- Full support for Draft 6, Draft 4 and Draft 3
- Lazy validation that can iteratively report all validation errors.
- Small and extensible
- Programmatic querying of which properties or items failed validation.
NAPALM (Network Automation and Programmability Abstraction Layer with Multivendor support) is a Python library that implements a set of functions to interact with different network device Operating Systems using a unified API.
NAPALM supports several methods to connect to the devices, to manipulate configurations or to retrieve data.
NetBox is an open source web application designed to help manage and document computer networks. Initially conceived by the network engineering team at DigitalOcean, NetBox was developed specifically to address the needs of network and infrastructure engineers. It encompasses the following aspects of network management:
- IP address management (IPAM) - IP networks and addresses, VRFs, and VLANs
- Equipment racks - Organized by group and site
- Devices - Types of devices and where they are installed
- Connections - Network, console, and power connections among devices
- Virtualization - Virtual machines and clusters
- Data circuits - Long-haul communications circuits and providers
- Secrets - Encrypted storage of sensitive credentials
NetBox is an IP address management (IPAM) and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tool. Initially conceived by the network engineering team at DigitalOcean, NetBox was developed specifically to address the needs of network and infrastructure engineers.
NetBox runs as a web application atop the Django Python framework with a PostgreSQL database. For a complete list of requirements, see requirements.txt. The code is available on GitHub.
Flask is a microframework for Python based on Werkzeug, Jinja 2 and good intentions. And before you ask: It's BSD licensed!
Faust is a stream processing library, porting the ideas from Kafka Streams to Python.
It is used at Robinhood to build high performance distributed systems and real-time data pipelines that process billions of events every day.
Faust provides both stream processing and event processing, sharing similarity with tools such as Kafka Streams, Apache Spark/Storm/Samza/Flink,
It does not use a DSL, it’s just Python! This means you can use all your favorite Python libraries when stream processing: NumPy, PyTorch, Pandas, NLTK, Django, Flask, SQLAlchemy, ++
Faust requires Python 3.6 or later for the new async/await syntax, and variable type annotations.
apt-get install -t strech-backports python3-nacl
PyNaCl is a Python binding to libsodium, which is a fork of the Networking and Cryptography library. These libraries have a stated goal of improving usability, security and speed. It supports Python 2.7 and 3.4+ as well as PyPy 2.6+.
Features
Digital signatures
Secret-key encryption
Public-key encryption
Hashing and message authentication
Password based key derivation and password hashingcryptography includes both high level recipes and low level interfaces to common cryptographic algorithms such as symmetric ciphers, message digests, and key derivation functions.
