What if told you, that you can have a portable Neovim configuration, that runs on any system that has Nix? And that you only need a single nix run command to execute it, without having to clone your .config/neovim and install your plugins?
The Lua configuration API provides a scriptable backend for Hyprland configuration, enabling dynamic behavior, reactive logic, and custom layout providers. It interfaces with the core compositor through a set of C++ bindings that expose Hyprland's internal state and actions to the Lua environment.
Before tmux, I spent most of my time working in graphical editors and interfaces, and found working in the terminal difficult to do.
After moving to tmux and learning how to configure it to suit my needs, I now spend nearly all my time whilst writing code in tmux.
In this video, I share the configuration that I’ve developed over the years to improve my own productivity, and why you may want to consider using tmux yourself.

Using YAML as the base configuration format allows me to define structured defaults that are easy to read, maintain, and version-control. Environment variables then handle dynamic values for environment-specific customisations, with custom logic to support default values for additional flexibility.

This tool reads a configuration file, checks it for syntax and semantic correctness, and then reconciles a running VPP daemon with its configuration. It is meant to be re-entrant and stateless. The tool connects to the VPP API and creates/removes all of the configuration in a minimally intrusive way.

The open internet is a great place to code, but sometimes you are sitting behind a great firewall in a corporate environment. Your are not allowed to just pull the hottest stuff from the internet, but have to go through an internal binary artifact repository like nexus or artifactory.

When NeoMutt starts up it looks for two configuration files – one “ system” file and one “ user” file.
NeoMutt first reads the system configuration file, then the user configuration file. The two files are merged in the sense that "last setting wins". That is, if a setting is defined in both files, the user configuration file's value for that setting is the one that takes precedence and becomes effective.
NeoMutt searches for several different file names when looking for config. It looks for NeoMutt config files before Mutt config files and versioned config before plain config.

When using VS Code and flake8, line width of python code is by default limited to 79 characters.
For people like me, 79 characters are not enough. How can we increase it?

Cluster API is a Kubernetes sub-project focused on providing declarative APIs and tooling to simplify provisioning, upgrading, and operating multiple Kubernetes clusters.
Started by the Kubernetes Special Interest Group (SIG) Cluster Lifecycle, the Cluster API project uses Kubernetes-style APIs and patterns to automate cluster lifecycle management for platform operators. The supporting infrastructure, like virtual machines, networks, load balancers, and VPCs, as well as the Kubernetes cluster configuration are all defined in the same way that application developers operate deploying and managing their workloads. This enables consistent and repeatable cluster deployments across a wide variety of infrastructure environments.
I have been using the awesome window manager for 10 years. It is a tiling window manager, configurable and extendable with the Lua language. Using a general-purpose programming language to configure every aspect is a double-edged sword. Due to laziness and the apparent difficulty of adapting my configuration—about 3000 lines—to newer releases, I was stuck with the 3.4 version, whose last release is from 2013.
It was time for a rewrite. Instead, I have switched to the i3 window manager, lured by the possibility to migrate to Wayland and Sway later with minimal pain. Using an embedded interpreter for configuration is not as important to me as it was in the past: it brings both complexity and brittleness.
Nornir is an automation framework written in python to be used with python. Most automation frameworks hide the language they are written in by using some cumbersome pseudo-language which usually is almost Turing complete, but lacks tooling to debug and troubleshoot. Integrating with other systems is also usually quite hard as they usually have complex APIs if any at all. Some of the other common problems of those pseudo-languages is that are usually quite bad at dealing with data and re-usability is limited.
Nornir aims to solve those problems by providing a pure python framework. Just imagine Nornir as the Flask of automation. Nornir will take care of dealing with the inventory where you have your host information, it will take care of dispatching the tasks to your devices and will provide a common framework to write “plugins”.
Thunderbird is the free and open source email client by Mozilla Foundation. I have been using it for some years now. Till now the Thunderbird users had to use an extension Enigmail to use GnuPG. Thunderbird 78 now uses a different implementation of OpenPGP called RNP.
Since RNP library still does not support the use of secret key on smartcards, to use Yubikey or any other GnuPG enabled smartcards, we need manually configure Thunderbird with GnuPG. The steps as said are the following :
For my work on Debian, i want to use my debian.org email address, while for my personal projects i want to use my gmail.com address.
One way to change the user.email git config value is to git config --local in every repo, but that's tedious, error-prone and doesn't scale very well with many repositories (and the chances to forget to set the right one on a new repo are ~100%).

If you're installing Debian and using preseeding to automate things, there are a lot of settings that you can change directly during the installation phase. Most of the useful things you might want to change are those for the installer itself (e.g. choice of disk partition layout, keyboard, language etc.). However, it is also possible to configure things up in a lot of other packages too if you know the appropriate runes. Finding out exactly what settings are possible can take quite a lot of effort.
Here is some help with that. I've written a script to extract all of the debconf templates in the Debian archive for each of the following releases, pulling out all the places where a template reflects a question or choice. Not all of these settings will make sense out of context, and some of them may not be sensible to use in a preseed. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! But I'm hoping this comprehensive listing might be useful for some people regardless.
I've only generated the set for amd64; other arches should be almost identical.
