There's a variety of places - on Earth and beyond - that pose challenging conditions to the ever-shrinking digital circuits of today. Making those tiny transistors work reliably when bombarded with charged particles in the vacuum of space, in the underground tunnels of CERN or in your local hospital's X-ray machine is not an easy feat. This talk is going to shed some light on what can be done to keep particles from messing up your ones and zeroes, how errors in digital circuits can be detected and corrected, and how you may even re-purpose those flipped bits in your RAM as a particle detector.
This talk will introduce the audience to the class of problems that digital circuits are faced with in challenging radiation environments. Such environments include satellites in space, the electronics inside particle accelerators and also a variety of medical applications. After giving an overview of the various effects that may cause malfunctions, different techniques for detection and mitigation of such effects are presented. Some of these techniques concern the transistor-level design of digital circuits, others include triple modular redundancy (TMR) and correction codes. Some open source software solutions that aid in the design and verification of circuits hardened against such problems are presented, and of course a 'lessons learned' from our experiences in the field of particle detector electronics will be shared.

Refactoring.Guru makes it easy for you to discover everything you need to know about refactoring, design patterns, SOLID principles, and other smart programming topics.
This site shows you the big picture, how all these subjects intersect, work together, and are still relevant. I don’t pretend to be the inventor of these concepts—most of them were invented by others during the past 20 years. But I think that the connection between refactoring, patterns and general programming principles still remains a mystery for the majority of programmers. This is the problem I would like to solve here.
This is a design review checklist for signoff review on all PCB designs.
Please use my checklist, I made these mistakes so you don't have to! Nearly every line item here came from the school of hard knocks.
Wayland is the next-generation display server for Unix-like systems, designed and built by the alumni of the venerable Xorg server, and is the best way to get your application windows onto your user's screens. Readers who have worked with X11 in the past will be pleasantly surprised by Wayland's improvements, and those who are new to graphics on Unix will find it a flexible and powerful system for building graphical applications and desktops.
This book will help you establish a firm understanding of the concepts, design, and implementation of Wayland, and equip you with the tools to build your own Wayland client and server applications. Over the course of your reading, we'll build a mental model of Wayland and establish the rationale that went into its design. Within these pages you should find many "aha!" moments as the intuitive design choices of Wayland become clear, which should help to keep the pages turning. Welcome to the future of open source graphics!
Notice: this is a draft. Chapters 1-10 are more or less complete, but may be updated later. Chapters 11 forward in large part remain to be written.
TODO
- Expand on resource lifetimes and avoiding race conditions in chapter 2.4
- Move linux-dmabuf details to the appendix, add note about wl_drm & mesa
- Rewrite the introduction text
- Add example code for interactive move, to demonstrate the use of serials
- Use — instead of - where appropriate
- Prepare PDFs and EPUBs

In Python, a decorator is a design pattern that we can use to add new functionality to an already existing object without the need to modify its structure. A decorator should be called directly before the function that is to be extended. With decorators, you can modify the functionality of a method, a function, or a class dynamically without directly using subclasses. This is a good idea when you want to extend the functionality of a function that you don't want to directly modify. Decorator patterns can be implemented everywhere, but Python provides more expressive syntax and features for that.

“Cloud native” is a term used to describe applications designed specifically to run on a cloud-
based infrastructure. Typically, cloud-native applications are developed as loosely coupled
microservices running in containers managed by platforms. These applications anticipate
failure, and they run and scale reliably even when their underlying infrastructure is experiencing outages.
To offer such capabilities, cloud-native platforms impose a set of contracts and
constraints on the applications running on them. These contracts ensure that the applications
conform to certain constraints and allow the platforms to automate the management of the
containerized applications. Many organizations understand the necessity and importance of
becoming cloud native, but do not know where to start. Ensuring that cloud-native platforms
and the containerized applications that run on them work seamlessly together provides the
ability to anticipate failure and the reliability to run and scale even when the underlying
infrastructure experiences outages. This whitepaper describes a number of principles that
containerized applications must comply with in order to become good cloud-native citizens.
Adhering to these principles will help ensure that your applications are suitable for
automation in cloud-native platforms such as Kubernetes.

The KiCad software tool come with an additional component library package and a documentation package. Once you install all three packages you are set with a full fledged software tool for PCB design. Any necessary PDF documentation will be then available from the Help menu of each KiCad application (Eeschema, Cvpcb, etc.). The same documentation is available here too.
KiCad is an EDA software suite for the creation of professional schematics and printed circuit boards up to 32 copper layers with additional technical layers. KiCad runs on Windows, Linux and Apple OS X and is released under the open-source GNU GPL v2 free of charge.
If you like KiCad or are making a good living using KiCad in your toolset, you should consider donating funds used for development. CERN has put up a place to collect donations which will be used directly to support a developer.
