The CoMatrix project enables the usage of the Matrix protocol (more precisely Matrix Client-Server API [0]) for constrained IoT devices via CoAP [1] and CBOR [2] in a constrained network (e.g. a 802.15.4/6LoWPAN network [3]).
The architecture of the Matrix protocol is based on HTTP/REST/JSON/TLS and is therefore not suitable for constrained devices. CoMatrix provides a gateway, which ports Matrix to CoAP/CBOR/(DTLS). This gateway communicates with constrained IoT devices on one side via CoAP+CBOR and translates to the Matrix protocol on the other side (i.e. HTTP+JSON). We also provide a CoMatrix client library (for RIOT-OS [4]) which provides a starting point to implement CoAP clients (for constrained devices) which are able to interact with Matrix homeservers via the gateway.
This Ansible playbook is meant to help you run your own Matrix homeserver, along with the various services related to that.
That is, it lets you join the Matrix network using your own @<username>:<your-domain> identifier, all hosted on your own server (see prerequisites).
We run all services in Docker containers (see the container images we use), which lets us have a predictable and up-to-date setup, across multiple supported distros (see prerequisites) and architectures (x86/amd64 being recommended).
Installation (upgrades) and some maintenance tasks are automated using Ansible (see our Ansible guide).
This bot is meant to be super easy platform to write Matrix bot functionality in Python. It uses matrix-nio library https://github.com/poljar/matrix-nio/ for Matrix communications.
Zero configuration except Matrix account info is needed. Everything else can be done with bot commands.
Type !help in room with this bot running to list active modules.
If you don't want some modules, just delete the files from modules directory or disable them with !bot disable command.
End-to-end encryption is currently not supported by bot but should be doable. Bot won't respond to commands in e2ee rooms. PR for enabling e2ee is welcome!

This repo contains (almost) transparent matrix gateway.
Following features are implemented:
- Sending and receiving emails, both plaintext and HTML.
Bridge will dynamically create rooms and invite matrix users/mail puppets when new message appears, see 'Usage' section. - Turning matrix room into something like mailing list.
- Sending and receiving attachments (looks ugly, see end of file).
Note that the knowledge for each level is cumulative; being at
level n implies that you also know everything from the
levels lower than n.
Matrix is an open standard for decentralised communication, providing simple HTTP APIs and open source reference implementations for securely distributing and persisting JSON over an open federation of servers.
