CRS310-8G+2S+IN Take advantage of the blazing fast 2.5/10 Gigabit combo and upgrade your workspace! This switch can utilize the full potential of RouterOS v7: run VLANs, Jumbo frames, link aggregation, ACL rules, and so much more!
While I was searching for a VCS capable RANCID, somewhere under a stone I found Oxidized, a 'silly attempt at rancid'. Looking at it, it seems more sophisticated, so I thought this might be the right attempt. Unfortunately there is no Debian package available, but I found an ITP created by Jonas.
The installation of the Openvswitch on Ubuntu brings an automatic integration into the boot sequence. When Ubuntu is booted, the Openvswitch is also started. Any bridge or port, which has been defined in previous sessions, is restored.
BUT: No L3 interfaces are set up, junk interfaces, which have been defined in previous sessions, are restored.
Open Networking Solution are based on open standard, bare-metal hardware with a choice of independent open software for NOS (Network Operating Systems), SDN, virtualization, and cloud orchestration. For years, hyper-scale data center operators have been enjoying the benefits of Open Networking Solution: reduced network equipment expenses, automated and accelerated provisioning of network capacity and services, greater control over the development of enhanced network services, flexibility to work with best-in-class suppliers, and reduced operating expenses.
These Open Networking benefits are now available for many more networking use cases. Public and private cloud data centers of all sizes are being deployed with network fabric built from open leaf and spine switches. Edgecore Networks offers choices of hardware to meet open network deployment, from 1G, 10G, 25G and 40G, to 100G.
An important ingredient in the Technology of Cyberspace is the ability to let any user communicate with any other user or service. How do we wire 5 billion people on the planet? That's an engineering problem - to design a network capable of handling such numbers over such a wide geographic area. We are going to talk about the engineering aspects of such network design for next two lectures.
Open Network Switch Layer (OpenNSL) is a library of network switch APIs that is openly available for programming Broadcom network switch silicon based platforms. These open APIs enable development of networking application software based on Broadcom network switch architecture based platforms.
Broadcom's OpenFlow Data Plane Abstraction (OF-DPA) is an application software component that implements an adaptation layer between OpenFlow and the Broadcom Silicon SDK. OF-DPA enables scalable implementation of OpenFlow 1.3 on Broadcom switch devices
RANCID monitors a router's (or more generally a device's) configuration, including software and hardware (cards, serial numbers, etc) and uses CVS (Concurrent Version System) or Subversion to maintain history of changes.
RANCID does this by the very simple process summarized as:
- login to each device in the router table (router.db),
- run various commands to get the information that will be saved,
- cook the output; re-format, remove oscillating or incrementing data,
- email any differences (sample) from the previous collection to a mail list,
- and finally commit those changes to the revision control system
In the field of telecommunications, a Clos network is a kind of multistage circuit switching network, first formalized by Charles Clos in 1952,[1] which represents a theoretical idealization of practical multi-stage telephone switching systems. Clos networks are required when the physical circuit switching needs to exceed the capacity of the largest feasible single crossbar switch.
